Missouri SMP: Always conduct annual plan comparison

The Medicare Annual Open Enrollment Period continues through Dec. 7, the deadline to make changes to your prescription drug plan (Part D) or Medicare Advantage plan (Part C) enrollment.

This is the key time for you to review your health care and drug coverage and make changes for the following year if you choose. If you do not want to stay in your current plan, you can enroll into a different prescription drug plan, or Medicare Advantage plan, or return to Original Medicare. Your new plan will start Jan. 1.

The Missouri Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) encourages you to take the opportunity for an annual review.  Plans may change from year to year – overall cost, the copays, the premium and the deductibles. Also, your health care and prescription drug needs may change from year to year.  You certainly should examine all your options before making any changes to your plans.

In Missouri, CLAIM counselors can help compare plan options. To find one near you, call 800-390-3330.

As always, report suspected health care fraud or abuse to the Missouri SMP (Senior Medicare Patrol) at (888) 515-6565.
