Let’s say “hello” to Freda Miller.

Freda started with Young at Heart Resources as an Ombudsman assistant in 2006, and was soon after promoted to manager of the Ombudsman program. Then, from 2015 to 2020, she managed our Family Caregiver Program, before taking on the role of Chief Operations Officer in July. “COO is short for COOL!” she says with a laugh. Freda has also been the regional coordinator for Missouri’s Silver Haired Legislature since 2015.

“I love working for this agency because of the difference it makes in the lives of seniors,” Freda says. “Because of in-home services and our advocacy for systemic change, I have listened to many stories and made a lot of friendships with the clients and their families. I have learned so much from them.”

Freda has two adult children. Her daughter, Stephanie, also works for a nonprofit organization, and son Jason is in law enforcement. She also has five grandsons: Adrian, Nicholas, Quintin, Brayden, and William.

Time away from work is spent with her family and her partner, David. They like to play Uno and Monopoly, and are especially competitive with Monopoly. “Playing in our family isn’t for the faint of heart!” she says.

Freda and David also enjoy taking short trips around Missouri, to check out the quaint towns and shops, and — their favorite — casinos along the way.

Thanks for all your contributions to this agency, Freda!
