Candidate Kathy Roach

“My name is Kathy Roach and I am seeking a second term as a member of the board of directors of Young at Heart Resources for healthy aging.

I am currently serving on the board and wish to be considered for a second term.

I am currently semi-retired, I work two days a week at the Andrew RSVP office in Savannah, MO. I was the director of this program 10 years before deciding to semi retire.

I am also a Silver Haired Legislator for Andrew County. I believe this is a great organization as well and this organization has the same mission as Young at Heart, to make things better for people who are aging.

I have been a Girl Scout leader for many years, Sunday School teacher, and am currently secretary of the board for Rea Union Church and the clerk for the village of Rea.

As a baby boomer I feel it is an honor to help those who need help the most and will strive to do whatever possible to help the aging population in our area.”

“It is my honor to provide this letter of my intent to serve and represent Caldwell County with the Board of Directors for the Young at Heart Resources. I have lived the majority of my life in Caldwell County and graduated high school also in Caldwell county; moving to this area at 13-years of age. While residing here, I have formed many personal and professional relationships with individuals through all walks of life. With that, I am forever grateful.

In 2012, I graduated from Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. For over seven years, I have served in various positions located in Northwest, Missouri. Formerly, I was employed for the Department of Social Services’-Children’s Division with various positions and have more recently, held a case management and director position with respective Senate Bill 40 agencies, providing support coordination to individuals diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities. With my positions and personally, I feel I have attained the necessary abilities to advocate for those less fortunate while also, ensuring they have a voice; no matter their age.

I have volunteered with the American Red Cross-services to the armed forces and have more recently reinstated volunteering in the area of Disaster Relief. I have also been active with the local Cameron, Missouri Wounded Warrior Project-Heartland Troupe.

Volunteering and humanitarian work has always been important to me and as a young girl, I always had dreams of serving in the Peace Corps (still my plan!). No matter how one chooses to volunteer, they can make a difference. I continue to wish to make a difference, personally and professionally and support the mission of Young at Heart.”
