Next up is Janna Leadbetter.
Janna is one of our administrative assistants. She joined the Young at Heart Resources team in Fall 2019. While she does support work for both coworkers and clients, her role is primarily focused on content writing and community relations. She loves that her job with our agency combines the best of her skills, honed through years of service work on one hand, and creative freelance on the other. “This is my first job in the nonprofit sector,” she says. “To be part of an environment devoted to the well-being of others before any other motivation has been a welcomed experience for me.”
Janna is a single mom with two teens and a special needs chihuahua. Her daughter will graduate from high school in the spring, and has been accepted to Rockhurst University (and their nursing school) in Kansas City. Her son is a sophomore. He’s active in all of his high school’s fine arts programs, and would probably live on stage if he could. Rooney, the chihuahua, recently lost his kitty sister but is adjusting well. Give him something to eat, and a blanket for burrowing into, and he’s a happy little guy.
When she’s not working, Janna is fulfilled by writing, buying books (but not necessarily reading them in a timely manner), thrift shopping, empowering women who have experienced domestic abuse, and nesting at home.
